Timing Chain & Sprockets Replacing on Chrysler?

Chrysler Pacifica Timing Chain & Sprockets Replacing procedure.

Complete details and diagrams to replace timing chain and sprockets is as follows:----

3.8L Engine

1. Clean the timing cover mating surfaces.
2. Rotate the engine so that the timing marks are aligned.
3. Remove or disconnect the following:
   
   
   Camshaft sprocket attaching bolt

   Timing chain and camshaft sprocket

   Crankshaft sprocket with special tools 8539, 5048-6 and 5048-1

To install:

1. Rotate the engine so the timing arrow is at the 12 o-clock position.
2. Lubricate the chain and sprockets with clean oil.
3. Hold the camshaft sprocket and chain and place the chain around the sprocket aligning the plated link with the dot on the sprocket. Position the timing arrow at the 6 o-clock position.
4. Place the chain around the crankshaft sprocket with the plated link lined up with the dot on the sprocket and install the camshaft sprocket.
5. Use a straight edge to check the timing alignment marks.
6. Align the timing chain colored links with the dots on the timing sprockets.
7. Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
8. Rotate the crankshaft 2 revolutions and verify the proper timing chain alignment, if not remove the components and reinstall as described above.
