Exhaust Manifold Removal for Colorado and Canyon?

The details for Exhaust manifold replacing is for Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon car models.

In this chapter the complete details with Proper help diagrams are provided to complete the Exhaust Manifold replacing procedure.


  1. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
    Catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold
    Exhaust seal
    Air intake assembly
    Transmission fill tube bracket nut, if equipped with automatic transmission
    Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) from exhaust manifold
    Exhaust manifold heat shield
    Exhaust manifold bolts
    Exhaust manifold and gasket
To install:

  1. Clean the exhaust manifold retainer threads and the gasket mating surfaces.
  2. Coat the bolt threads with a suitable threadlock.
  3. Install the exhaust manifold and tighten the bolts in sequence to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm), tighten the bolts again to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm), then tighten the bolts again to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  4. Install or connect the following:

    Heat shield and tighten the nuts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)
    HO2S and tighten to 31 ft. lbs. (42 Nm)
    Transmission fill tube bracket nut, if equipped with automatic transmission.
    Air intake assembly
    New exhaust seal to the exhaust manifold flange
    Catalytic converter to the manifold. Tighten the nuts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
    Negative battery cable
