Oil Pump
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

2.7L Engines
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine oil.
  3. Remove the oil pan. For additional information, refer to the following section, -Oil Pan, Removal & Installation.-
  4. Press the chain tensioner off of the oil pump chain, and remove the chain from the oil pump.
  5. Remove the oil pump, pick-up tube and O-ring.
To install:
  1. Clean all of the sealing surfaces.
  2. Position the oil pump onto the drive chain and reset tensioner.
  3. Install the oil pump mounting bolts and tighten to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  4. Install the oil pan.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Refill the engine with oil to the correct level.
3.0L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine oil.
  3. Remove the oil pan. For additional information, refer to the following section, -Oil Pan, Removal & Installation.-
  4. Remove the oil pump cover.
  5. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the oil pump.
To install:
  1. Clean the strainer of the oil pump and replace the sealing ring. Fill the oil pump with engine oil so that oil is delivered when the engine is started.
  2. Install the oil pump. Tighten the bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  3. Install the oil pump cover and tighten the bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  4. Install the oil pan.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Fill the engine with oil to the correct level.
  7. Start then engine and check for leaks.
3.5L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine oil.
  3. Remove the upper and lower oil pans. For additional information, refer to the following section, -Oil Pan, Removal & Installation.-
  4. Remove the oil suction tube bolt.
  5. Press the oil pump chain tensioner to completely remove the tension from the oil pump chain.
  6. Remove the oil pump chain.
  7. Remove the oil pump bolts.
  8. Remove the oil pump and suction tube.
To install:
  1. Install the oil pump and suction tube.
  2. Install the oil suction tube bolt.
  3. Pressure the oil pump chain tensioner to completely remove the tension from the oil pump chain.
  4. Install the oil pump bolts.
  5. Install the upper and lower oil pans.
  6. Connect the negative battery.
  7. Refill the engine with oil to the correct level.
