The complete step by step procedure is as follows:---


Adjustments



This vehicle utilizes a modular clutch assembly located between the engine and the transaxle. The modular clutch is serviced as an assembly and is self-adjusting. The self-adjusting feature of the clutch relies on a sensor ring and adjuster ring.

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following: 

    The negative battery cable
    The air cleaner assembly
    The battery and tray
    The back-up lamp electrical connector
    The shift cable-to-bracket clips
    The shift lever and crossover cable from the levers. Move the cables out of the way.
    The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) electrical connector
    The clutch master cylinder tube from the slave cylinder using a clutch hydraulic quick connect Tool 6638A
    Both halfshafts
    The power steering hose from the structural collar
    The left side lateral bending brace and structural collar
    The bell housing dust cover
    The right side lateral bending brace
    The starter
    The driveplate-to-clutch module bolts and support the engine at the oil pan
    The transaxle upper mount bolts and lower the engine/transaxle assembly
    The modular clutch from the input shaft

To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    The clutch module to the input shaft
    The transaxle-to-engine mount bolts and torque them to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm)
    The upper mount bolts and torque them to 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm)
    The driveplate-to-clutch module bolts and torque them to 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm)
    The starter and torque the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm). Make certain that the ground cable is fastened to the upper bolt
    The starter electrical connectors
    The bell housing dust cover
    The left side lateral bending brace and structural collar
    The power steering hose to the structural collar
    The right side lateral bending brace and torque the bolts to 60 ft. lbs. (81 Nm)
    Both halfshafts
    The clutch master cylinder tube to the slave cylinder
    The VSS electrical connector
    The back-up lamp switch electrical connector
    The air cleaner assembly
    The battery and tray
    The battery cables
  2. Fill the transaxle to the proper level.
  3. Road test the vehicle and check for proper clutch operation.
  4. Check the fluid level and adjust if needed.
